Hi,

Im looking to start yoga next week but I've never done it before and wanted to be prepared. Is there an ideal mat type i should get via eBay or would any suit?

You could start out with any cheap mat, but if you are going to stick with it long term, you might want to invest in a natural rubber mat - they have better grip, better cushioning and natural antibacterial qualities.
You will need some form of mat as some poses mean your hands or feet might slide on other surfaces, which is a bit worrying and also uncomfortable if you slide too far!

They look good but bit pricey as im just starting out.

As a beginner, I’d recommend the thicker the better. The ones from Lidl or whatever tend to be a tiny 4mm thick. I have a padded one from TK Maxx that is about 12mm I think and a life saver if you’re getting used to spending time and carrying weight on your wrists and knees.

I bought this one a few months ago, finding my old one too thin. I'm really pleased with it and it comes with a carrying strap.
