Yoga with Adriene - March 2021

Fell off the yoga train in February but brand new month, brand new motivation (I hope). I’m going to try to follow the March calendar but may sub in other routines some days and hopefully this thread will keep me accountable - I found the Breath thread really helpful for that. Anyone else want to hop in and join me?

Anyway I’ve done day 1 - Let it Go Yoga Flow - which was a nice slowish start to the month and I feel nicely stretched and relaxed. My ability to get from cobra to downdog has somehow improved during my month off so that was a nice surprise.

I’ve just done day 1 of the 30 days.

Bloody hell. I could only do half of it, my legs and back were so stiff and inflexible!

I used to do yoga and Pilates a few times a week but lockdowns have made me concentrate on running and HIIT. It was only recently I suddenly realised how inflexible I’d got.

Talisin · 01/03/2021 21:30

She has several classes for stretch and flexibility on youtube that you might want to sub in for the next few days instead of sticking strictly to the calendar.

This sounds good to me. I did yoga everyday in February and I am blown away at how my flexible I am now! I could barely straighten my legs in downward dog but after practicing everyday I've noticed a huge improvement. Also my balance is better and I feel stronger.

Talisin · 02/03/2021 08:20

Definitely felt less stiff first thing this morning. Still surprises me what even 20 mins of yoga can do.

Morning all, checking in - I'm doing True which is a Jan course from another year, and I got a bit ahead at the end of Feb so I'm on day 5 today (going to do it at lunchtime).

LadyAgripina · 02/03/2021 16:52

I finished Breath yesterday and I am starting the March calendar. I'll begin with day 2, so I have the feeling of doing it with people. I really improved with the 30 days of "breath", unbelievable. No loosing weight, though. You can't have it all Grin

Talisin · 02/03/2021 23:57

Oof. Just got day 2 in under the wire. It was a lot more vigorous than I was expecting (should have noticed the title was Energy) so probably not great for right before bed! Horrible foot cramp right at the beginning in Child’s Pose which luckily wore off but I did have to make a couple of modifications as a result.

Question: does anyone find the ‘claw through your fingers’ to take the weight off your wrists actually works for them? It seems to make no difference at all for me.

Adriene has been my lockdown saviour. I loved Breathe in January but also fell off the wagon in February, felt a bit boring. Did Day 2 today and yes, it was surprisingly vigorous for a short one.
I like the claw through the fingers now.. But I didn't like it when I started her vids. Has taken awhile.

Hello, may I join? I've been doing YWA for a couple of months - did 90% of November, 75% of December, all of January and and February. I didn't do the mandated Feb one, instead I picked Revolution as was looking for longer-length practices, and the Feb ones seemed very short. I'm finishing up Revolution now and looking to start another 30 day program.

I am loving it. I feel much more flexible and in tune with my body, plus it's a nice way to wind down from the day - I do it after my baby girl goes to bed but before we eat dinner.

Talisin · 03/03/2021 11:52

Hello - and of course, all welcomeSmile I’ve been doing ywa since Yoga Camp which was the Jan 30 days in 2016 I think. Been off and on since then but always feel better after a few days back on the mat - it’s just getting to the mat that tends to be my problem!

Did day 6 of True this morning so expecting sore abs tomorrow!

Adreinnesarmy · 03/03/2021 20:12

Bit late, but just finish Bridge a few days behind schedule. I think I do prefer these calendars in some ways as I don’t feel compelled to do them in any order - I just screen shot it and then just tick them off depending on how much time I have on any given day, but not sure I get the build up in fitness the other 30 day programmes offer.

Am also in a bit of a quandary as whether to stick with my random workout method or whether to try out Kassandra as I do really enjoy Adrienne, but she does sometimes waffle and all this recent emphasis on breathing hasn’t really been for me. What does everyone else think of other instructors out there? Don’t want anything too hardcore, but do want to step off the mat feeling well stretched (I love the stretches) and ideally a tad more toned....

I mentioned this on the other thread but I've gone back to her original "30 days of Yoga" and it's a lot more about just getting the poses done and more dynamic, much less headspace stuff. I love it! up to day 16 so far of it.
earsup · 03/03/2021 22:16

I manage most days the back ache session she has and its quite short at about 24 mins but really need to do more....in the real world i went to classes 3 times a week !

Talisin · 03/03/2021 22:56

Day 3 done and it was nice and peaceful but stretchy - Calm, as the title said which I really needed today. I couldn’t switch off my brain though which was slightly annoying, usually it takes me around five minutes in until I manage to be in the moment and stop thinking about work/shopping/whatever but it wasn’t happening today. Was not expecting the elbow plank in the middle there.

Not sure which option to go for tomorrow - I’m a member so can do the mindfulness practice but yoga for the spine is calling to me despite the fact it’s longer (and I’m lazy).

You can print out the PDFs of the calendar too - I do that and paste it in my bullet journal.

Adreinnesarmy · 04/03/2021 07:02

Thanks @sycamore54321. I’ve done the thirty days four times in the past three years and sure I’ll go back to it at some point...just feel I’m missing out if I don’t try her other stuff. Also I find that I know half the dialogue of those now and find that in itself almost as infuriating as I end up saying it in my head before she does!

LadyAgripina · 04/03/2021 20:50

I decided to do true instead of the one for this month. I am in day 3 and find it calming and stretching. So far so good 😊

Talisin · 04/03/2021 21:34

Too tired for a 37 minute session today so swapped it for a short Bedtime Yoga instead. If I hadn’t started this thread I would probably have skipped altogether but too embarrassing to publicly fail this early in the month!

OP posts:
drspouse · 15/03/2021 18:27

Not up to date at all but I've done day 14 of True this morning which was very slow and frankly just what I needed!

drspouse · 01/04/2021 22:30

I only got up to 23, but I think my downward dog heels are getting closer to the ground, that's my current ambition.

EventuallyDistracted · 02/04/2021 09:32

Hi, I did the January month then dropped out, I have decided to start again for April and did day 1 yesterday, anyone else?

Adreinnesarmy · 02/04/2021 15:58

I’ve gradually worked my way through February and have six videos left of the March calendar (mostly the longest ones I think!). I do it most days, but not religiously so have fallen a little behind...

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/04/2021 16:19

I’m still going since January but didn’t like the March calendar so just did a favourite each day from Breath or one of the other programmes.
Had yesterday off as I was ill but will have a look at April. I like 20-25 minutes, not much longer.
