I’ve heard from quite a few people and read online that yoga has changed their life - has this happened for you and if so in what way?

I'd like to get back into Yoga after a long break, can anyone recommend a good online beginner course I could do? Love the idea of doing a 7 day course to see the impact and get my mojo back Smile

I've practiced almost daily for 17 years now, after joining a class out of interest just to see what it was. At 64 I have no joint or back pain, my neck move freely and although I have been both fat and thin in the time I've practiced. In recent years I've done a lot of other exercise and I think it is down to the yoga that I have been able to run and do weights. The nice thing is I will continue, hopefully, for the rest of my life and there are real benefits for older people.

Yes. I've taken it up again in peri-menopause. I had a regular ashtanga practice before kids, had an injury, and gave it up (I do not recommend ashtanga). Now I have a very safe practice, it provides calm and focus, and I don't ache. I am doing a teacher training course. I don't plan to teach but do wish to understand it better.

I practice about 5 times a week and days when I practice are better than days when I don't.

That said, it isn't enough. I need to do something to get my heart rate up higher to keep my weight down - the peri-menopause and the belly fat is real and horrifying.

I haven't had much adult life without yoga to make a comparison.
I started in my early 20s and now at nearly 60 and like ExConstance I have no joint or back pain, I am very strong and flexible.
My body moves easily, headstands, crow, plough are all easy for me.
My core and back are strong- I dont know how my body would have aged without yoga- I suspect not as well. Despite having the face of a 60 year old I have the body of a 30 year old!

@speakout thank you for sharing! Very interesting insight. I’m in my 40s and started yoga a couple of years ago. The difference it’s made to my strength and flexibility is amazing, and so it’s great to hear of the benefits further on in life.
