Emotional after yoga?

Does anyone else get very emotional several hours after doing yog? Sometimes it's almost as if it's doing more harm as I have huge emotional outbursts about 12 hours after my practice. I feel rage and don't quite know what is wrong with me. Would be reassuring if anyone else has a similar response.

I haven't felt rage, but I have certainly felt tearful after. And one of my teachers has warned us about certain moves releasing emotions. Might have been hip openers.

Talk to your teacher about it - they may be able to offer advice, and it could also be useful feedback for them.

What kind of class are you doing? I've also heard of people getting emotional but not angry. They do say a lot of emotions are held in the hips and it's difficult for people to find openess there but I don't know any poses that make you angry.

Interesting how yoga affects us differently I love yin it makes me feel energised.

Was it a very hip opening class? Supposedly you hold a lot of emotions in your hips?!

I agree with PP too and have been emotional after Yin.

Saying that, I’m half way through yoga teacher training and there’s not a day that goes by when someone doesn’t cry on that!

There's nothing wrong with you.
Yoga is designed to help you release and confront your emotions, so actually it's doing its job.
Try another shavasanah if you think that would help now.

Yoga practice can really open us up, peel away the layers, we can feel super vulnerable and open to what's happening around us/ in the world - go gently with yourself - another relaxation, a cozy bath, maybe stay away from harsh noisy environments after practice etc... 🌺🌺🌺

I did a three hour Yin workshop yesterday then burst into tears blow drying my hair later that evening!

Just had a realisation that I never feel worthy of friendship and I expect people to leave/abandon me. It has been reinforced by experiences (I was bullied at school and have a litany of broken relationships.

I came to the conclusion that I prefer having more, less intense friendships, also when I am at peace and conduct myself with strength, grace, serenity, this is the right way, and life is too short :)

Yoga doesn't have to be about difficult emotions, it could be feeling intensely happy too. I really recommend Laughter Yoga if there is one nearby. xx
