Recently started pregnancy yoga and enjoying it. In the past I've done weekly Pilates and enjoyed that too - however I think once a week isn't enough so end up not doing it at all Blush please motivate/ encourage me!

Should've said I can't commit to more than one class a week (young dc etc etc)

Would you do it at home using YouTube etc? I have 2 small dc and am doing pilates 2-3 times a week when I get 30 mins at home, couldn't commit to a class at all so this is perfect.

Once a week is better than no times. Yoga isn’t just about the physical it’s also great for your mental and emotional wellbeing giving you some time to focus on yourself not all of your duties and commiymenys. Definitely do it once a week.

To see progress you need to be doing yoga at least three times a week. If I don't have much time I do ten minutes every day. Doing little and often is better than once a week.

scaredofthecity · 06/02/2019 07:21

That's rubbish mecurial I only did yoga once a week for a long time and certainly felt the benefits, and got lots of complements as well. I then increased my commitment to 3-4 times a week, and of course I felt better but once a week certainly wasn't nothing.

The more yoga the better, but once a week is enough too if it's all you can commit to.

Enjoy Smile it's definately changed my life for the better.

I did yoga once a week for 10 years (then I had kids Hmm) as I have a mobility related health condition. I saw immense improvement in that time and never practiced at home, I knew I should but I have zero discipline and time. It's still worth it, I wish I could go again.

moomoomummy · 06/02/2019 07:26

I have been doing a 90 min Iyengar class once a week for 4 years. I can only feel myself getting stronger and more flexible. So, yes once a week over a number of years has been great.

Mercurial123 · 06/02/2019 07:26

We will have to agree to disagree. Yoga isn't about compliments though is it?

DippyAvocado · 06/02/2019 07:28

I have been doing yoga once a week for 25 years! As you get older, it's good for gradually building up strength and flexibility, as well as having some mindful time.

Babygrey7 · 06/02/2019 07:29

I do once a week and it is very beneficial for body and mind (helps my stiff back, and clears my mind of clutter... restful)

If you want a yoga bod, once a week does not do much, but for general benefit once is still a great way to relax mind and strengthen core etc...

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 06/02/2019 07:30

I would also suggest trying youtube yoga at home.

I started with a weekly class but after class ended I couldn't find another to suit so started Adriene Yoga with a 30 day yoga challenge.
She gives all sorts of options on her youtube page depending on what you want and it is all free!

I love it. Absolutely changed my shape. Some days I do a longer session-some days 15 mins.
It does make a big difference to be able to do it at home.
Put on your leggings when you get up and be prepared to hop on mat when you can.
Even a 10 min stretch and some down dogs are bliss.

Good luck!!

I do yoga once a week of course it's fine when you've got fibromyalgia you are doing something fantastic for yourself stop beating yourself up that you 're not doing more. Stick with your commitment and enjoy the benefits.

scaredofthecity · 06/02/2019 07:41

No i just meant the benefits were noticeable to those around me too.

I struggle with my mental health and yoga has been invaluable for that.

Yogagirl123 · 06/02/2019 07:54

I only go to my yoga group once a week, and for me that’s enough, but I try to practice breathing exercises when I feel stressed.

I have found it really beneficial, we do a lot of chair based yoga. It’s great for people with mobility issues. The group I attend is for people with Multiple Sclerosis.

It’s the highlight of my week.

CoteDAzur · 06/02/2019 07:56

Yes, once a week is better than nothing.

In periods when I was regularly practicing, I was doing two Vinyasa classes per week. I slimmed down, my posture straightened and I had visible muscles in my arms, so I would say that 3x a week is not the bare minimum to see results.

scottiesheep · 06/02/2019 08:05

Thanks all, that's encouraging!
