Hi YogisSmile
I'm new to yoga and doing the 30 day challenge with Adrienne on YouTube and really enjoying it so far! Im in day 9 and just want to know if a few things are normal or am I just super unfit?! I'm 10st, 36yrs old and thought I had a good amount of strength/fitness in me but when I do some poses I shake, am so out of breath, can't find my balance and just feel so heavy and stiff is this normal?!! My aim is to be able to life my body weight and do a headstand but watching the experts there no way I'd be able to do it!! It's helped relax me and help with mindfulness but fitness wise it's really shocked me!!

It's normal your body is getting stronger. I would start off with a headstand and then work up to handstand.

I think yoga works all of your muscles in a way they haven’t been before so it takes time to build strength. It took me about 6 months to be able to build the strength in my wrists to do a downdog comfortably.

The gains and improvements in yoga are slow but steady. I always think if I ran every day I would make huge improvements after a month but with yoga, if you did it every day for a month you might only get your heels an inch closer to the floor or be able to go an inch further in a forward fold. It really takes a long time to see huge improvements but stick with it!!! It’s so amazing when you can do something you’ve struggled with.
