Rapes, misogyny and sexual abuses at Agama Yoga, Thailand

Apologies for my negative posts regarding yoga.

I am sure that some yoga is helpful for some people some times, however, as someone who has lost friends to yoga cults I am extremely concerned about abuses at yoga schools and retreats.

I have known about this particular yoga school for some years. It is a break away school from a much larger, even more abusive, criminal yoga school that started in Romania.

I will just post a link and let it do the talking but rather that put anyone off yoga altogether I would very much like to educate people about some of the warning signs to look out for that indicate that a yoga school might be a cult / criminal organisation.

Needless to say I did try to warn people about this school but people seldom want to listen once they get involved with an abusive organisation such as this.

Now people do know, but some sadly had to learn the hard way.

Thanks. Will look into it. I wonder if this is relevant - but a feminist group I was part of online kept getting spammed by long posts I didn't read about Swami someone in about 2008. I wonder if they are connected.

I'm sorry that you have lost friends to "yoga cults"; but anything that promotes abuse of any kind is not worthy of the name yoga; it's a deliberate bastardisation of the word.
Yoga, if practised correctly with a legitimate teacher or even with a legitimate book, can turn anyone's life around for the better as it did mine over 43 years ago; but unfortunately the word has been usurped for nefarious purposes and it breaks my heart that it makes decent people suspicious.

These days one needs to be extremely careful when choosing a yoga retreat or school or teacher. There really are only a handful of legitimate schools left. The commercialisation of yoga in the West was the moment it all went downhill. Traditionally the teaching is free.
