Yoga class loyalty?

Is it ok to go to different classes with different teachers?
I would like to practice more regularly but my teacher only does one class a week. At the moment.
I wondered if it's ok in yoga circles to mix things up or are you supposed to stay loyal to one teacher?

Who would know?

You can do whatever you like!

I go to two different Pilates classes, with two different teachers each week at the same gym.
I think it's beneficial to learn from different teachers.

All very good answers!

I guess I'm worried they'll be able to tell 🙈

Maybe I'm over thinking this!!!!

Well, if you want to do more classes, and she/he doesn't do them, you can't really stay loyal can you?! I think it's fine - if you really want to stay on the good side of your teacher, and like her style, you could ask her if there are any other classes she recommends as you are keen to attend an additional class in the week. Ime, yoga classes can be very different, so a recommendation may mean you end up with a similar class type - but not necessarily!

If you are keen, she should be encouraging you to go to other good teachers. There is no problem in going to more than one teacher. If she only offers one class, you have no choice anyway.

I go to two fairly different types of yoga each week and sometimes wonder if they can tell when I do things differently from their style.on occasion.
Of course it's fine! And probably good for you to mix it up a bit.

Mercurial123 · 11/09/2018 17:21

Why would the teacher care? You are over thinking it.

Thanks for the replies all. 👍🏻

I do three yoga classes a week with three different teachers and three different types of yoga. Hatha , Iyengar and Vinyasa.
I enjoy doing the different styles and more importantly I have found three great yoga teachers

I’m a teacher - definitely go to others’ classes! Experience a different style, notice different language, enjoy a different practice! If we only ever go to one teacher, we risk getting a bit stale......!
I love seeing my students adjusting themselves, taking a break, or doing their own thing at appropriate times. I don’t care where they got those things from, I’m thrilled their practice is developing for them Smile
