Yoga and fibromyalgia

Does anyone else practice yoga and have fibromyalgia? I had a bad car accident as a child which led to fibromyalgia but I'm a serious yoga enthusiast. I've even considered being a teacher but the training course I'm looking in to says that boat and headstand are required on graduation. That made me feel so deflated.

I've been doing yoga for 15 years but I feel I've been on a plateau for....15 years!

I can't do headstand (too much pain), boat (too much pain) and handstand (too much pain). I have a good practice overall but it's frustrating that I can't conquer these poses or even consider my dream of being a yoga teacher.

Any thoughts or advice? Flowers

Honestly, a good teacher training shouldn’t be insisting you have to do certain postures. I hate headstands, never practice them, been practicing 20 years & teaching for the last few. Never been a problem.

Look for a different training that is more inclusive and isn’t looking to churn out a load of identical teachers.

You might think your physical practice, to an observer hasn’t changed in 15 yrs, but I’ll bet that internally, emotionally, mentally your practice has evolved hugely.

Don’t give up, keep looking for the right training for you ❤️
