How often do you do Yoga?

I have been doing Yoga weekly for about a year. I have missed some weeks due to family commitments etc. I am getting better but only slightly - still can't get my feet flat on downward dog but in my defence in all the exercise that I have done over the years I have always had tight hamstrings and have never been able to touch my toes. I am very much a beginner.

I have now decided that if I want to get better - and enjoy it more - I need to be more regular. For the last three days i have tried to do a small amount in the morning before work.

For those of you who love Yoga and feel it makes a difference to your life how often do you do it? What should I be aiming for?

Thank you

You just need to find the right teacher who will help you identify how to move.

Everybody can touch their toes.
The secret is to keep your knees really bent and then learn to straiten your legs with your hands on your toes Grin

I do Yoga with Adrienne on YT about 3x a week, but it is mostly just quick, 25-30 min sessions of asanas (I also gym for 60/90mins min 4x week).

I have also very recently started having private tuition where only 1/3 of the session is asanas (first third is breathing, middle third is asanas, final third is relaxation) and it is a totally different experience. More of what yoga is supposed to be, the holistic experience of yoga rather than just the ‘exercise’ bit. That does take a lot longer though and I don’t have 90mins 3x week to devote to that full experience, as fabulous as it is. I am trying to do that at least once a week though and hopefully the mini YT sessions will keep the flexibility in the interim.

Dp and I go together and we go 2-3 times a week. It's hard going because we are both stiff and unfit. Dp because he has never exercised since school and me because I had to quit yoga for 2 years following an arm ligament injury that wouldn't heal.
We are doing 1.5 hrs of mysore ashtanga and 1.5 hrs of Iyenga. Building up to 3 times a week.
It's taken a few weeks to get in the door of both these classes because they are so very popular.
Dp whimpers and cries his way through the ashtanga atm. Bless him! Lmao

I do 10-15 minutes four mornings a week and then give myself friday off Grin.

Its massively helpful, I would like to fit in a longer session in addition. The down dog app is great. Mostly I just do my own thing though, having learnt a bit.

at the moment I'm doing 2-3 times a week which is enough with cycling to work everyday as well. When I first started years ago I was super keen and used to do it all the time, especially in the mornings as soon as I got up.
