Yoga holiday with partner who doesn't do yoga?

There are lots of yoga retreats but what I'm trying to find is a nice hotel abroad that offers a regular programme of yoga sessions to guests so that DH and I can have a nice break but I can do yoga each day and kind of feel like I'm on a yoga retreat!

Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone done this?

I made my own yoga holiday by just contacting a local yoga teacher and booking her every day for the week.

Does he have any interest in surfing? There’s a yoga/surf retreat in Essaouira

ohbigdaddio · 26/04/2018 07:07

He doesn't like surfing AQuestionofIntent 😊 But he would be happy not doing anything. I just need somewhere where you have the option to do yoga once or twice a day and then do your own thing the rest of the time. Is that Paradise Plage? Has anyone been?

I went to Chiang Mai in Thailand a couple of years ago. There are so many yoga studios and had a huge range of classes. There's so many non yoga things to do as well as amazing food.

I went with Sardinia Yoga and loved it.

They are based at hotels in Majorca, Sardinia and Croatia. Yoga every morning 8-10 then you can do what you like for the rest of the day (or book additional classes).

Minimum 3 nights but you can join whatever day suits you.

I'm also going on a retreat later this year in Chiang Rai living with instructor and her family which includes two dogs only four people will be there. Maybe if you contacted a small retreat like this they could work something out. Cooking lessons and a driver is available after lessons to take you round the area. I'm paying around $400 for the luxury room so it's a pretty good deal.

Ooo thanks for these ideas, will check them out.

Both the retreats I've researched recently have offered an option for non-participating partners to pay a room and board rate, so it is clearly a thing!

I've been looking for one that would combine both our interests (yoga and cycling) but that pretty much means a mountain retreat with good cycling routes for DH - yet to find the perfect scenario though!

Mercurial123 · 29/04/2018 07:57

onemouse the area around Chiang Mai has amazing cycling routes I did a tour with Grasshopper Adventures.

ohbigdaddio · 29/04/2018 09:14

Thanks for all this. Chiang Mai looks amazing! 😊

@ohbigdaddio I've just booked through www.sardiniayoga.com which sounds what you're looking for. It's a beach holiday with Yoga - rather than totally based on Yoga. Hubby is going to play golf while I practice :)

If you look at that website you'll see they also have locations in Croatia and Majorca x

nervousFTM · 29/04/2018 18:10

Oh just seen @Fightthebear had mentioned what I suggested already! 😊

Fightthebear · 29/04/2018 18:22

You’ll have a great time nervous!

8am yoga under a blue sky overlooking a white sand beach with tweeting birds and no other noise. It was so lovely.

Not keen on Puerto Cuervo as a town though. As a group we got taxis up to restaurants in the hills at night where the food was fantastic.
