Keep off my mat!

I love my yoga, all those bare feet, not so much. I have a fear of contracting fungal toenails.

I have my own mat and only take my socks off once I'm on my mat.
In every class I go to, people tend to avoid stepping on each others mats. However, I'm finding in one class there is a girl who repeatedly walks barefoot across my mat at the end of class (she could easily step over or around it).
I try to avoid being near her, but occasionally it's unavoidable.
Any ideas how I can get her to stop without appearing like a hygiene freak?

Be a hygiene freak. why not go as far as saying to her you have OCD that you are still in treatment for but could she walk around as new mats are getting expensive.Wink

I once had a man's nose sweat drip on my mat....

Spray her with a water bottle every time she goes to step on it. Reward with treats when she backs sway

Tbh if you are worried about confrontation, I'd be honest but make it so you're apologetic for you having 'issues' and not about her being yucky.

Btw I don't think you have 'issues' and find the idea of others feet going on my mat disgusting - so your being totally reasonable.

You are totally reasonable.
Your feet only on your mat

littlewoollypervert · 08/03/2018 13:59

Put a plaster on your foot. Then next time she steps on your mat make a huge fuss - "Oh I've a verruca, you might need to get Warteze and treat yourself now that you've stepped on my mat"
You won't see her for dust!

Or, if you’re the non confrontational type, move to a corner or different place so she doesn’t have to walk past you, or roll it up quick.
As an aside: In an exceptionally sweaty ashtanga class with a 6 ft 6 Adonis with golden skin, his pools of sweat that lay all around the floor by his mat felled me. I slid in it and went down on the spring floor with force. Smile

Just say dont step on my mat it's rude that's why no one else does it.

Mercurial123 · 09/03/2018 10:22

She does it probably because she's unaware it's bad form to step on someone's mat. Just ask her not to in a friendly way. I've done this before.

I'd quietly ask the teacher to make a general class point of it. It's part of their job to manage the class.

Everyone at my yoga studio shares mats and they stink too!
