Anyone tried it? I'm a Power Vinyasa veteran and having recently moved to somewhere where there are no Vinyasa type classes I have been along to a couple of Odaka Yoga lessons but am a bit Hmm about it. Just wondered if anyone else has given it a go and what you thought?

I've never heard of it.

What is it like?

Google is your friend.... www.odakayoga.com/en/

If Google were the only friend we needed, none of us would be on MN.

I am more interested in OP's personal experience.

Oh dear. I just read that as Vodka Yoga. I clearly do not do yoga Blush

That sounds even more interesting Grin

Okay. I went again last night and I'm still a bit unsure about what I think. I quite like the teacher who seems pretty clued up on anatomy and biomechanics but here are my reservations: other yoga styles I've tried (Power, Satyananda, Bikram, Iyengar) make a big deal of correct alignment, Odaka (or at least the class I'm going to) seems to not really give a toss (eg revolved half moon with leg raised as high as possible) and there seems to be a lot of just throwing yourself into potentially risky poses as part of the flow - ustrasana (camel) springs to mind here. I'm also not a fan of practising with music. I think it's potentially quite an interesting approach to yoga but most of the videos available on YouTube seem to be a bit 'showy offy' rather than giving an idea of what a basic sequence would look like. Anyone else tried?

I keep coming back to this thread to see if anyone else has tried it, but I guess not. Is it not that well known (yet) then? I had not heard of it before but that's hardly surprising, since there aren't that many yoga studios where we live.
