This is something that's really close to home. Lmfao

Was it a loud fart?

WatchedFrozenWayTooMuch · 18/11/2015 20:27

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2491275-i-just-farted-at-work-and-pretended-i-didn-t-notice?dod=1 read this thread and you will feel better Smile

Littlefish · 18/11/2015 20:29

just to make you feel better, I once did an enormously loud fart in yoga while I was demonstrating a position to everyone else. I was sitting down, with my legs held wide apart, one foot in each hand. There was absolutely no chance of hiding it, everyone was looking at me and it was a proper rip snorter!

However, when the others tried the position, at least 3 of them farted too, so I felt much better!

Happens all the time at yoga and Pilates classes, in my experience as both perpetrator and bystander, the accepted etiquette is that all parties maintain a poker face and make no acknowledgement of the occurrence Grin

Floundering · 18/11/2015 20:31

'Tis only a Fanny fart it won't smell!

SwedishEdith · 18/11/2015 20:35

Grin @ perpetrator and bystander.

Pedestriana · 18/11/2015 20:41

My yoga class is made up of a lot of older people (senior citizens fast approaching their 90s). One of the class attendees is profoundly deaf. The same person also does prolonged and extremely loud farts during stretches.

Everyone maintains a poker face. Unless we're doing a meditation and the person lets rip, in which case I stuff my sleeve into my mouth under cover of darkness and chortle.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 18/11/2015 20:44

Until you've sharted in warrior you don't know embarrassment.

Ubik1 · 18/11/2015 20:59

Everyone remained poker faced. Blush
Unfortunately I got the giggles.

I was in boat pose and then we were to lean back while stretching out legs and when I stretched out my legs there was a loud 'parp'

Later we had to try headstand. And I was so worried I would let another one go while the teacher was helping me get my legs in the air I pretended I was too tired to do it Blush

Sharting while in warrior is a whole new level though ... Shock

And thanks for that thread - I have also farted in work. The perils of middle age.

I've been to one yoga class ever. It was pregnancy yoga. There was much farting from everyone. I couldn't stop laughing and tried to hold my laughing in. I pissed myself.

dun1urkin · 18/11/2015 21:06

There's regular farting at my Pilates class. Without fail, we all fall about laughing every time. No poker faces for us!

This is why I will never do yoga or Pilates. I once did a rip-roaring fanny fart during sex which lasted at least 10 seconds Blush. DH certainly didn't maintain a poker face, the giggling git.

CoteDAzur · 18/11/2015 21:36

You can always tell when there is a vegan on a high-carb diet in the class Grin The rest of us are usually OK but coffee and toilet before class help.

cece · 19/11/2015 23:32

I did a snore the other day and woke myself up Grin

CoteDAzur · 19/11/2015 23:33

The other day I almost fell asleep in savasana, too Grin

Giraffeseyelashes · 19/11/2015 23:46

Oh god, I've done that too. Very loud fanny fart. Excruciating.

cece · 20/11/2015 19:54

It's just so comfy. Smile

daisychain01 · 31/12/2015 14:51

They should rename downward facing dog downward farting dog. Its gotta be the worst posture when you're feeling a bit on the windy side. One false move and oops.

My teacher is lovely and has almost normalised breaking wind as a healthy result of yoga. I wouldn't say we all sit there blowing off for an hour and a half with alacrity, but it does help to remove the shame when she says "this posture is recommended if you have trapped wind".

CoteDAzur · 31/12/2015 17:18

"downward farting dog" Grin

It's double bubble, as yogis tend to be vegan or at least vegetarian ime - getting most of their calories from wheat-based carbs & legumes => lots of farts.

daisychain01 · 01/01/2016 09:08

That's me Cote Grin Not a vegan, but a veggie yes. I haven't yet had a Blush moment but I know I'm on borrowed time!

PantsOfGold · 01/01/2016 17:17

I really want to try yoga - but this puts me off. After 2 kids and an episiotomy, 'things' have never been the same again down below. I know I won't be able to keep a straight face if myself or anyone else lets rip. Blush

daisychain01 · 01/01/2016 20:32

Pants, I'd say you'd find yoga very beneficial for regaining lost 'down below' muscles.

Depending on the class, some classes do 'banda's which are muscle locks.to refind your lost muscle tone. A bit like pelvic floor exercises but even more thorough!

Have you done any banda's in your class Cote?
