Safe journey Cote, and well done for the campaign.

Just back from a blissful hour of yin and all is right with the world.

I swear it's better than sleep.

Exciting! Thank you Cote and MNHQ Smile

Yay, thank you Cote and MNHQ!

Finally got internet connection. Temporarily.

My zen was sorely tested on a 12-hour journey door to door yesterday, comprising two airports, two passport controls, various x-ray luggage checks and transfers but I made it to the beach resort where we'll be spending the rest of summer. And so did my yoga mat despite much eye-rolling from DH Smile

I have now found a vinyasa class for this afternoon. Will report later Grin

Yeah, well, that was a disappointment. Teacher thought I was "very advanced" (I'm not). Mental note: Don't go for yoga classes in hotels ever again.

beach resort for the rest of the summer……sounds nice!

good time to work on your self-directed practice?

HellonHeels · 16/07/2015 11:21

Perhaps the instructor didn't express herself very well. Maybe you're more advanced than the typical hotel student. A less advanced class can be fab for working on the basics.

CoteDAzur · 16/07/2015 11:31

Yes, it was perhaps unusual for the instructor to have someone used to doing yoga. I don't mean to be unkind. However, it was odd that after sun salutations and a few warrior poses, we spent ages (10 min?) gently rocking from side to side on our backs and then she said "OK, now take a blanket". I asked "Is this the end of the class? We haven't done any forward bends or inversions". She says "All classes are different" but this was supposed to be a Vinyasa class and they are not THAT different. Anyway, I said I'd like to do a head stand and she goes "This is not a private class". I was the only one there Hmm

So I get up to my headstand and rather than leaving me to it, she is telling me that she only has 10 more minutes in the class. Never had anyone rush me through a pose for time constraints before. Never had a teacher walk around on creaking wooden floors during shavasana, either. It wasn't relaxing, at all. I'm not going back to one of her classes.

Mary - You're right. I will try to do a bit more yoga on my own Smile

Hmmmm that does sounds a little....unusual! I wonder if she is actually qualified?

Arf @ 'this is not a private class' Grin

I think self practice might be the way to go. Hope you're having a wonderful holiday despite the yoga class.
