Withdrawing acceptance of a job

What happens if you pull out of a job you have already accepted beacuse something more suitable comes along?

Currently the acceptance is verbal, I have recived a letter offering me the job and I have to confrim in writing. Can I still pull out even if I've confrimed in writing?

You could technically be in breach of contract, and certainly would be if you accepted in writing having seen the terms and conditions in writing, but in terms of actual implications if you pull out, probably only irritating the new employer and reducing the chances of working for them in the future.
