What's the longest you've had to wait for an enhanced CRB check to come through?

I was hired in February but still haven't started working yet because I'm waiting for CRB clearance.

The HR department said they can't chase them up until 10 weeks has elapsed since I put my application in, that will be next week.

Has anyone had to wait longer than 10 weeks? When can I expect to be able to get to work?!

I've waited 15 weeks I think

I'm afraid that whilst the CRB can chase them, when they have gone out to the police forces, they take as long as they take.

Mine take a long time as I've lived in 2 different policing areas recently, which is what takes so long - each force keeps a separate intelligence database.

This only applies for enhanced disclosure BTW - standard should be more straightforward.

OK so the fact that I've moned house 18 months ago could be slowing things down?

It is an enhanced that I've applied for so this will slow it even more.

I've applied for two recently, one for work and one for some voluntary stuff, that could slow things up too maybe?

I have checked online and it says it's at the 4th or 5 stages, with the police, the 5th stage is printing it.

Getting very frustrated!

It's just rotten, isn't it?
the fact you've got two in at once shouldn't make any difference, although maddeningly it won't speed up the second one.

CRB do have targets though, and the police occasionally respond to their nagging. I'd ring weekly once the 10 weeks has elapsed.

I filled out the forms on 1st April & it came back on 20th - there were the Easter bank hols in that period too, so it was really quick. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it though, it depends where you are & how busy they are at the time as well as how many times you have changed names and/or moved house recently I think.

I've been told by other people that they've only had to wait a couple of weeks for theirs too, it's starting to make me a bit paranoid, I'm thinking what is on the police system that about me that is so major it's taking this long?! Pretty sure there's nothing though.

you can check your progress online and would advise you raise a complaint. we've had to suggest this to prospective employees several times.

my longest so far was an employee I offered post to in october 09, commenced employment under clearance from the POVA register in dec (basically means they are supervised and not to do 1:1), crb arrived at the end of march 10
