Would you ever choose a maternity cover job over a permanent job?

Mat cover job has come up, seems ideal and apparently is "quite likely to go permanent" - yes, I know I need to ask more about what that means - but would you go for it in the current economic climate or wait and try and find a similar permanent job instead? Have a permanent job atm and could bear with it for a while longer.

If it was a foot in the door of somewhere I really wanted to be then yes definitely. I've not done it but there were two people who covered my maternity leave who used it to gain the entry to the organisation, a bit of experience and one has moved to better things in the same place and the other is in a similar organisation in a higher role. Go for it if you can!

Tis somewhat of a foot in the door, yes.

It's weird not to be worrying about accruing mat leave - not ruling out TTC at some point in the future but will give it some time to see how having 2 DC works out for us.
