Procrastination... is the name of the game

I am on mumsnet because I have a particularly difficult piece of work to start and I am putting it off. I've been known to do all the ironing, make bread and do the hoovering in an attempt to stall.

What's the most ridiculous thing you do to put off working?

I'm here because I'm avoiding finishing a piece of work... (hate tidying up all the formatting, references etc)

tee hee, glad it's not just me

Last Saturday

I went in my office (back bedroom) to do accounts, having paid for a babysitter to cover the time, but ended up spending it clearing out an infestation of moths I found in the carpet instead.

That is how much I hate doing my accounts.

I should of course have just suffocated the moths with a pile of bank statements and got on with the spreadsheets

Ah yes, suddenly things like that take on such an immense importance. I've been known to dig out the feather duster and get going on all the cobwebs in the house. I may well have been avoiding doing the accounts too at the time (also a personal pet hate).

I'm on here instead of writing up my financial agreement for my divorce. oh and my tax return that should have been done last month.... I have the weekend I suppose.....

Seeing this thread has just reminded me to call the accountant to offer him more money to do the extra work on the spreadsheets instead of me

So thanks for that!

[goes off to make phone call]

Well thank you Thumbsucker!

I have now palmed off the extra work onto the accountant who said something astonishing like 'oh I should think that will take my assistant about 30 minutes' instead of 'ooohh dear, that will be £4 million pounds please'. So now I am ripe for some more procrastinating elsewhere Result!!

oh gawd - can I join - I am sitting here putting off doing my expenses form for a totally anal client who like the VAT broken out for every damned receipt...
And I can't even give it to someone else as only I really know what this pile of crumpled receipts are for.....
