Hi, I have been working in a care home for three years. I then came off contract and continued working for them on the bank from the 15th October 09. My last pay was at the end of October. I then didn't recieve any money at the end of Novenber, as they said it was a month in hand. I then didn't recieve any money at the end of December either, as my time sheet was late. (My fault I know) I phoned to ask if they could sort something out, they said they would but didn't. I've handed in time sheets for Oct, Nov and Dec in December and now they haven't paid my at the End of January either. I have now had no money for 3 months, and things are getting very desperate. I have never been in debt before, but now I am big time.
I am going to phone the home again soon, but I'd be really greatful if you could give me some advice as to what to say. Thanks.

you really needed a date. any way you can call her back and ask what date. Say that you have to make phone calls about unpaid bills and they want a date.

Actually say you have just rung elec company as now got red bill and they want to know an exact date the money will be in. Say to the boss that obviously a cheque will take another 3 days to clear.

also clarify exactly how much you will be receiving.

I've phoned Head Office and they've said that she did ring this morning and that the finance team are looking into it for me and finding out exactly what went wrong and what they owe me. I asked her if she knew when I'd have the cheque and she said she didn't know.
I've spoken to my Mum and she's said that she'll lend me some money until I get my cheque. I hate borrowing money, I've never borrowed any off her or anyone else before but It will definatly help, even if it's just to buy food.

Good for you lucy. If they do not call you back, then give them a ring first thing monday to find out the latest situation on the whereabouts of your money.

Then keep ringing them everyday.
Glad your mum was able to help out. Still a dreadful situation to be in.

Thank you, I'm feeling a lot better now. Something will be done. In the mean time, at least we'll be o.k for food and our daughter needs new shoes, it's never ending. But we'll be o.k now.

Thank you everyone who posted on here! I don't know what I'd do without mumsnet.

They dont have to pay you by cheque though - they can get the money into your bank today by doing a CHAPS transfer. They wont be keen on doing that because they will have to pay the bank a fee (usually about £10). But tbh if you need the money, I'd ask them to pay that way!

Good luck, hope its sorted soon x

Still i'd put it in writing. people can pay lip service but you need to do everything properly and if you haven't got it in writing it holds everything back.
