Considering DH giving up work to be stay at home Dad

We have been thinking about the possibility of my husband staying at home looking after our new baby due in April, but don't know how that will leave us financially.

He would love it, he is such a hands-on Dad and is sooo much better than me with our daughter.

I earn approx £20K p/a and he earns about £22K p/a, so if he gave up work our income would be sliced in half. He's not in the kind of job where he could be part-time, it's all or nothing.

What we have been wondering is how much in benefits would we be able to claim if he did choose to be a stay at home dad.

Does anyone know?
