Hi,

can anyone tell me what the definition of redundancy is ?

Can two people do the same job, each half time, and one be made redundant and the other not ?

If so how do they chose which one ?

"dismissal caused by your employer's need to reduce his or her workforce" (from dti website)

so yes, don't see why they can't make half a post redundant. AFAIK they are not under any obligation to be fair as to whom they choose either - i.e. they can choose whoever has worked at the firm for the shortest time and is therefore entitled to less redundancy pay.
