what to get a colleague who is getting married...? warning: a bit trivial

this is more of an etiquette issue than an employment issue! is there an etiquette board? there should be! apologies if in wrong place.

a colleague is going off to get married this weekend, what is the done thing - should we be clubbing together to get her a 'congratulations' card - a gift? i get on really well with her. she's a permanent employee but a bit of a lone wolf as her line manager is based in another country. i know no-one else will have organised anything. or do we just say 'good luck'?

she's just invited a few of us to go out tomorrow to grab a falafel at lunchtime - her last 'freedom falafel' which has made me think it would be nice to do something

your help v much appreciated! thanks!

yes get her something, especially if she hasn't really got a line manager who's about to organise that stuff.

Think she would be really touched - how about a nice photo album / bottle of fizz / both

Could you email the line manager and ask if she/he is planning to do anything / would like to contribute?

yes yes good. i agree. i'll call her line manager now! felt a bit mean not to do anything! i will organise.

thank you!
