How did you tell work that you were pregnant and how do you plan to go back to work?

Hi I am 10 weeks pg with DC2. Had a load of hassle from old boss when arranging maternity / return to work after DS1. Turned out well in the end and now work for different more understanding boss and have a job that I love.

They have come to depend on me and I am going to feel really guilty when I tell them I am pg (which I am planning to do in a couple of weeks).

I was thinking of breaking it to them gently by saying that I will be back (like with DS1), probably initially part time and then full time again.

I think my boss will be happy for me but a bit stressed as I am one of his best sales people and I'll be on maternity leave over the critical end of year period.

I heard that there were return to work days? What are these? They could help my boss feel a bit happier?

Am I fretting over nothing? Be good to hear others thoughts. Also have been feeling rough with morning sickness and its getting difficult to hide it and tiredness.

try not to feel guilty. You'll still be around for a while yet and however much they depend on you, they will cope! Not sure how you can really break it gently tbh, but in any case I would advise you don't make any commitments about when/how you will come back to work this early.

Do you mean Keeping in touch days? You can now work for up to 10 days during your maternity leave without jeopardising your maternity pay. See this section.

Thank you flowery. Yes its Keeping in Touch days I am thinking of. Didn't have them last time round.

After reading some of the material on mumsnet and elsewhere I am feeling better.

Just got to do it!
