Basically, I returned to work after 9 months maternity leave at the end of august. I lost a weeks holiday when I went on ml as they wouldnt let me take it beforehand due to it being too short notice. I was told I could carry it over to this year but when I returned, I was told they had no idea what I was talking about! (We have a new manager who was on a different department before I left). It had been written down that I could carry it over but apparantly couldnt be found. So I left it but I was still quite mad, but not a lot I could do without proof. Anyway, this year I booked all my holidays with my new manager in one go bar one week. Due to the nature of my work, we cannot take any holidays between october and january. I was only able to take the last week in oct, and the first week in jan as everything else was booked up, and the last week of march. Our annual leave year is from april to april.
About 3 weeks ago I realised I still had a week and 2 days still to take so asked if I could take them as days instead of in a block, to make it easier on the other staff. There was still 5 weeks until end of a march. I had to repeatedly ask my manager for a week until she sorted it out and decided I could take 2 weeks ( the week I had already booked and the remaining week). I was still going to lose 2 days but I was ok with it. I was also told that I had already taken it before I was on mat leave, and then it was "no, you added it onto the end" ?! I was meant to be on holiday after friday, but was told on thursday that it would be too big a strain on the other staff for me to be off for 2 weeks and I wasnt allowed to take it, even though this week, 6 people are off and next week only one person will be off. I have had to really fight against this decision, and have finally been allowed to take two extra days before the end of the year, but I am now going to lose a whole week. It might not be much to them but it means I have now lost two weeks holiday and they have gained it in work from me that would have been paid holiday. Since I was told I couldnt take the holidays, my manager had been even more difficult to work with, sniping and picking at me. She is a really unpleasant boss. I honestly think they are trying to force me to leave as there are too may staff. I hate it so much at the moment and thats why I was so looking forwards to a break from the stress. Can anyone help?
