I'm due to teach a class tonight, only started 3 weeks ago so no contract yet to look this up. Its adult education and the college is completely shut and will not be open for tonight.

I should do right?

I cant say yes but I would think so.

You should have been given a contract. Are you usually hourly paid? I can't say you will get paid but you should. It is after all beyond your control. Sorry can't be more precise without knowing the type of contract.
I did about 6 years of hourly-paid teaching, so I know the feeling too well...

yes you should as you were willing and able to work but the college is shut. you contract should say how much notice they need to give that you will not be working and i doubt one day is enough unless its gross misconduct.

you contract could have a stupid clause about it but lets hope not.

remember the rest of the staff are all getting paid for the day off. join your union quick! you can do it online for UCU.

I'm a part-time lecturer. No contract yet, it's only been 3 sessions so far and I started before I even had the interview (they were in a bind).

It sounds so familiar... A s moocowme said, join UCU, definitely worth it.
