dh's company announced redundancies in Nov. In the end he wasn't selected, although it was likely he would be. He already had an interview for another job, which he went to anyway. He was offered the job and decided to take it. They wanted him to start early Jan, which he couldn't do as he has to give 4 weeks notice. He went to give notice today, although he's actually on leave until the new year. His boss said that unless he started his notice on 1st Jan, they'd revoke his holiday betwen xmas and new year. Can they do this? I can understand why they're p**d off, but the other place want dh to start before the end of Jan and if his holiday gets revoked, we have no childcare between xmas and new year as I have to work. (no holiday clubs open or family close by).

Does he have an employment contract? That might shed a little more light on any restrictions in the notification period.

he must do but no idea where it is... I bet he doesn't either!
My contract doesn't say anything like that, diff. company though.
