what happens to SMP if company I work for no longer exists?

At about the time when I will be due to go on ML the company I work for may not exist any more as we may not get funding to continue running. If this happens do I still get SMP and how does that work?

not sure of exactly how it works but a colleague of mine was on ML when we were all made redundant and the company went into Liquidation, she received her SMP from the Government.

Have a look here about insolvent companies. If your employer says it doesn't have enough money to pay you, then you will be able to claim it from HMRC.
