Love the CM - Just not her house

This is going to sound really pathetic of me but I need some MN advice. I am due back to work next April. I went to see a CM today and really liked her : older which I preferred, 17 years experience, happy mindees, outstanding ofsted. The only problem was her house smelt. Sort of stale and doggy smelling although she said she has no pets. Would this be ebough to put you off?

Bumping for you. Prehaps trying posting in cm/nany section too?

I just see where you say "happy mindees" and stop reading there. That's the most important thing, no? If her house is hygienic and not damp, then does a bit of a smell really matter?

This may not be the case with you but when I was looking I always found ONE thing about each CM I went to see that I didn't like. After a while my DH told me I was making excuses because I didn't want to find a perfect CM because I didn't want to leave DD. And you know what, I think he was right. I love my CM now, though she is not "perfect". DD is very happy and safe and that is what counts.

Thanks. You are right. She has had one mindee since he was 7 months and he is now 10!

Did the house look dirty? Do you think it was because she is not very good at keeping her house clean? Or if her house was actually clean, maybe she had some dodgy drains or something. I would be put off by a dirty house. If she is not very hygenic in her housekeeping, then how can you be sure she is hygenic in other ways?
