I had to leave my 1 year old DS at nursery and I felt so bad & guilty! I had been off for 13.5 months so returning to work feels major to me and I have been utterly dreading it. I'm back part time but I'd still dearly wish to be with my wee boy every day and not work. He wailed when I left and cried his way through dinner and his bath, he is just not himself as he is usually a chirpy little guy. I was so upset when I left him at nursery too, I cried all the way to work and had to sit in a carpark for 10 mins to compose myself, then called the nursery twice like a neurotic mummy ARGH!

Please tell me it gets easier

It gets easier, promise.

My DD hardly had time to say goodbye to me these days she is so busy!

op, can't you extend the term of your morgage to stay at home longer? I can understand you are upset, I worked weekends/evenings when mine were small as I didn't want to leave them in a nursery (I've seen too much, I'm an ex nursey worker), is changing your job/work patterns an option for you?

nursery not nursey!

Hi all, just realised there were new messages on this thread!

DS was back in nursery today and thankfully he seemed to have really enjoyed himself! He only had a slight cry when I took him into the baby room and he knew where he was but he settled the moment I gave him his blanky (BTW I'd recommend taking a familiar toy / blanky to help ease them in and soothe them). I left quickly and the feedback tonight was that he was all smiles and giggles today hooray! He was in a great mood when he got home too, he has been cuddling and kissing me loads I was a lot better at work today too, I think the first week was the hardest. He got tooth #7 at the weekend too so I think that was bothering him last week.

Bobie, how did you get on yesterday?

SSD, I can't really stay at home for longer as we do need the money and my job is only 9-5pm hours so can't do evening. Plus my boss is going on M/L in a month and I need to act up for her!

Well done - sounds like he's settling fine

Hi there,
sorry for late reply. Well DD has been full of cold this week and teething so by the time I've picked her up from childminder she was half asleep! Been a lot of tears this week (from me) but I can see she is very happy there so I guess I'll get used to it at some point! thanks all for the messages - really helps knowing so many others are in the same boat!
