First settling day at nursery - please come and tell me lovely stories

Left my pfb 11mo ds at nursery today for the first time. It went really well until nap time - he's used to sleeping in bed, in the dark, in his own room and, not surprisingly, wouldn't settle in the nursery. I'm feeling terrible for not having anticipated this and helping him to sleep in other ways; I'm sure he'll get there eventually but it would be good to hear how other people in this situation have managed. Feeling a bit fragile!

aw - nurseries are used to this

the staff usually pat/rock/cuddle the babies to sleep

your DS will get used to it very soon

He'll sort himself out - my DS always slept with a muslin at nursery, although he'd never had one (or once we found this out, accept one) at home.

Now DS is a big boy at nursery they sleep on mats in the room - there is no way he would do that at home, but settles down in minutes there.

Thank you so much. I'm much more weepy than I expected to be; the nursery's a lovely place and ds knows some of the babies there already so it will be fine but right now it doesn't feel it!
