Missed the date to tell work I'm not going back

I wonder if anyone can help put my mind at rest.

I took a month's annual leave in April and started my maternity leave just before dd was born in May. I am due to go back in mid November (I said I'd take 6 months). I have now decided I am not going back until May 2009 but having just been through the paperwork I've noticed I was supposed to give them at least 8 weeks notice and tell them almost 3 weeks ago!

I am seeing my line manager tomorrow and am now so nervous.

Anyone know what'll happen if my manager's okay with it? Will it affect my statutory maternity pay?

Thanks very much
MM

i did the same thing when i had my first daughter, it didnt cause any problems and my manager was happy to help get the paperwork sorted..It wont affect your maternity pay in anyway. Hope it all goes ok for you and enjoy your time with the wee one.
