Does anyone employ casual temps? Is this a mean thing to do?

I took on an indefinite temp job at the council

I have been there for 3 weeks

I don't like it at all, my health is suffering and I don't need the hassle

DH is now poorly again & may be going back to Papworth on Monday next week

Last week (Wednesday) I gave them 4 weeks notice (I need to give 24hrs) but I now want to finish on Oct 3rd

Is that awful - I feel so guilty even discussing it but I am finding it terrible

What does anyone else think about it?

If its temp and you only need to give 24 hours the don't panic, your and your DH's health far more important. They will be able to get someone else quickly.

You are a temp. No need to feel guilty especially given that it's still far more notice than you have to give.

Please don't, bear in mind that you are a temp and had to fill a hole so there will be others who want to fill that.

No, under no circumstances should you feel guilty. If they wanted you to give more notice, they wouldn't have said 24 hours. No-one would mind under the circumstances. Sorry about your dh.

But you're still giving way more than the required notice. And you're not quitting on a whim, you're quitting because of your health and your DH's health. Please stop beating yourself up about this!

If they already know you're leaving and you've only been there 3 weeks, you are not irreplaceable at all, and if they only need 24 hours notice you certainly don't need to feel guilty. This early on you don't owe them anything and need to focus on what's most important for you and your family.

I gave notice - I still feel no better about it butat least it's done
