....and it is for a quite well paid job...to run a charity's trading company

i have been working for myself so not easy to talk about teams etc

and i have to work hard in my head to make myself feel that i have worthwhile skills to offer

that said they are interviewing me

but i am someone who rambles and waffles

here are some of the person specs they want

a.3 years management experience in retail or mail order

b.managing staff teams

c.financial skills

d.familiarity with recording purchasing stock control systems

e.computer literate word excel and powerpoint

f.communication skills

g.eye for design knowledge of print and design processes

h.set budgets and business targets

i. work under pressure

j.hands on approach

k. flexible to work some evening and weekends

i am not optimistic about getting this job but really pleased i have an interview

it would be life changing as it is not only a job but also would mean moving

Rhubarb- shes already had interview today!

WideWebWitch · 01/08/2008 17:46

An hour and a quarter is good.
What did you think you were rubbish on?

Would it be too much to send an email saying how much you enjoyed meeting them and how interested you are in the job?

zippitippitoes · 01/08/2008 17:55

just general non stop talking

and i asked them qwuite a few things

and prtobably showee dthat my experience was a bit limited and feeble

we were at a table and i had papers about the job in front of me

i m not sure they knew how to get rid of me

i have to email with my mileage for expenses so should i say i would like the job then?

Ah.

Well Zippi mate, if you don't get it then at least you've got interview experience and you have to ask them for feedback too.

But..........they might have loved you! They don't want someone who is over confident because those types don't stay.

zippitippitoes · 01/08/2008 18:00

well im pretty impressed i got asn interview

This site and this one helped me get a job after 2.5 years as a sahm and 15 years of no interview experience (had different jobs within the same company during that time but no interview needed!).
Good luck!

mablemurple · 01/08/2008 18:05

Ah - just seen interview was today - hope it went well.

WideWebWitch · 01/08/2008 18:16

I think you could email your expenses and say at the same time that you;d like to reiterate how keen you are on the role.

fishie · 01/08/2008 18:40

can't find management training, have something at work will try to dig it out next week.

i think you'd be really good in vol sector,

zippitippitoes · 01/08/2008 18:44

thank you

i am quite shocked anyone on mn thinks i deserve a job at all let alone a responsible one

i shall email then and reiterate i t cant do any harm

Fingers crossed.

DH got a job recently and they told him he interviewed really well inspite of his nerves. So any interviewer worth their salt should see past the jitters.

Let them know how keen you are.

zippitippitoes · 01/08/2008 20:35

i just had achat with dd1 and her bf about my interview and they cracked up...

so my chasnces might be nil

basically i talk too much

the pa was a dead ringer for alan partridges assisytant

zippitippitoes · 04/08/2008 14:22

well i didnt get it

i think i am far more likely to get my house repossessed than get a job tbh

OP posts:
fishie · 04/08/2008 21:19

shit zippi, sorry.

zippitippitoes · 04/08/2008 21:27

well it seemed perfect but i wasnt good enough

but it has done two things when i get over the disappointment

i did get an interview and thats the first for two years

it has made me look at better paid jobs i might as well get rejected from a well paid job as much as a low paid one

and i think there is a third

it has made me consider where i could look

for jobs

so thank you fishie for giving me the opportunity

www.fundraising.co.uk has job vacancies aplenty, although mainly looking for experience. you could do some volunteer work to give you a boost?

zippitippitoes · 04/08/2008 22:10

i am thinking of volunteering but tbh im going to have to find some money pretty quickly

maybe until i have spent the last of my borrowing i will just hsave my head in the sand

not sure what happens really
