Advice on what path to take

I have 18 month old twins. I took voluntary redundancy from my job towards the end of my maternity and managed to find locum work when they were 12 months. The job is very flexible and I work full time hours over 4 days. As it’s locum, the pay is very good but obviously the drawbacks are I can be let go at short notice and am not covered for leave, etc. They have extended me for another 6 months which is good and there will be a permanent role at the end of this although it will be a salary drop compared to my previous substantive salary.

I was contacted and encouraged to apply for a role, which I did as had nothing to lose and was offered the job. It’s a good opportunity; it’s full time, good salary with benefits however they’ve said it’s M-F with 3 days in the office. They’ve said I can do compressed hours following a 4 month probation period.

I’m torn with what to do. Alongside this, I have a lifelong condition which I’ve always had reasonable adjustments from my previous employer where I can work from home if having a flare up, etc. The new job have said they will refer me to Occupational Healthand support recommendations (this was said verbally).

My dilemma is that I don’t know what to do. Do I stay in the locum work, which I don’t know when will end and they can let me go at short notice, or do I take the permanent role, which will be a massive change for me as I’ve worked from home more or less since Covid. I’m just worried about my health condition and the fact I may not make 3 days in the office every week.

Has anyone got any advice/thoughts?

Take the permanent role. Occupational health will likely support reasonable adjustments.

Are you self employed locum or through some form of agency/organisation?
If the later then you should get holiday pay.
