University jobs - professional services senior leadership

hello, is anyone here in a professional services university role in a senior lead ship position? If so, I’d be really interested in hearing about your workload and how much work/life balance you have.

im currently in a grade 7 role in a university, where I have slowly moved my way up in the past decade - because of the slow progression, and the fact that its allowed me a good work/life balance whilst raising 3 little ones I’ve stayed on. Now however, I feel like I need a salary jump in order to keep up with these crazy prices & im wondering if I would still get the perks in a different role in HE or if I should just continue plodding along in my current role.

There’s a University Staff Common Room board in Work that might be a better place for this question.

Do you manage people in grade 7? You will most likely manage a team in grade 8 or 9 and that is a huge challenge
Depends whether it is a centrally funded or externally funded role and whether you can work around deadlines with 3 kids

Universities are all under pressure and strapped for cash.
How likely is it that they’ll pay for senior managers and be interested in their work life balance?

Just be aware that every uni does Grades differently. G7 at one of the places I worked was Senior Officer level...and in another Grade 6 was Head of Service.
