Started a new job a few weeks ago, I was unemployed for around 2 months due to a horrible situation in my last role where I was being treated unfairly and handed in my notice after enough was enough. Started applying for a new job during the summer holidays and after several interviews I got one of the jobs which wasn’t ideal but i was scraping the barrel for money and started mid-September… perfect. Until one of the roles I’d applied for contacted me to arrange an interview only AFTER I’d already started at this new place. And this other role is doing the same thing only in a school which is perfect for me as I’m a mum of 3 young children so having the school holidays off is obviously a huge plus which I don’t currently have. So my interview is tomorrow and I want to know if they ask anything about what I’m doing at the moment what should I say? I only started this current role 3 weeks ago so it wasn’t on my CV when I applied… also I told this prospective role that one of the reason I would like this job was because of the school holidays thing and if they find out I started a new job which was all year round won’t they start wondering if there was more to the story? I don’t want to go into details with them around why I left the horrible role but I did give my old manager as a reference even though I did leave quite disgruntled I had no choice because she was my most recent employer. But basically it was because I was being left out of work and personal events, micromanaged by another manager, nit picked constantly by another colleague and ignored whilst they both had a laugh and office banter together all day. I was also the only member of the department who didn’t receive a pay rise despite an increase in my workload due to my other colleagues promotions, was left out of meetings the rest of the team was involved in and my deputy manager was very passive aggressive and argumentative towards me in her tone. It became increasingly difficult because both of my managers were related so I didn’t feel I could go to either about the other. So that’s why I left but it has made things difficult and I shouldn’t have left before finding a new job but it’s done now. So my main questions are:
should I tell this prospective role I started a new role a few weeks ago but when I was contacted for interview I couldn’t turn it down? And if they ask me why it’s not term time only like I said I was looking for what should I say?
I’m just worried if I get the job is there a way of them finding out I was employed for 3 weeks when they add me on payroll etc? I really want this job but I also don’t want them to be put off by me being in employment currently in a new role.
sorry it’s long and thank you
