Interim line managing but no pay increase

I've been told I'm going to line managing an extra team of five on an interim basis for two months. Not asked. Told. No pay increase has been mentioned or will be offered. Company finances aren't great. Should I be requesting a pay increase?

No. Do it. If the two months gets extended then have a conversation. This is assuming you are already line managing people in similar roles as you say 'an extra'.

If you aren't currently line managing anyone then you need a conversation.

Hmm. I assume you already line manage people so there’s no additional development needs for you? You can ask, they can say no. If you know they will say no, then maybe don’t waste your time. It’s up to you if you do it or not. Obvs if you don’t, you are presumably looking to leave. Given the difficult company finances you mention, they may not be taking the piss, and you can choose to use it as an opportunity to boost your CV, if it would help it, or again you may think moving on is the best option.

Hello, I do already line manage but the team I'll be taking over for the interim period will double those I line manage by over 100%!

I wasn't even asked about this, let alone told I'd have a new temporary team. I feel so deflated after months of so much being put upon me.

Your already a manager and there giving you extra people to manage so it’s part of your job so no I wouldn’t expect any more pay

I'm a team leader. These extras arent within my team and do a different job than me and any of my team.

We have an ‘acting up’ policy where if you are asked to take on additional responsibility for a certain length of time it comes with no pay increase. Might be worth checking if you have this and what the time frames are.

Tbh, I am really upset that there was no consultation, they didnt even ask, just an email saying I will be line managing five extra people for a temporary time.

It seems that me and another colleague get lots put upon us. We'll both be line managing more than half of the more senior managers manage themselves. We're junior with little experience of line managing. I sometimes feel they want us out.

Good for your cv to say you can successfully manage across an unfamiliar area. Perhaps do the two months, get that line on your CV and start sending it out. There is the saying that pay increases only come from new employers.
