I have an nhs interview next week and I keep reading online that it is good form to ask to have an informal visit before your interview? I have never come across this in the private sector. Thoughts?

I've never heard of an informal visit, but definitely an informal chat with the recruiter. That said, I have only had those conversations in the latter stages of my career where my roles have involved more and more responsibility.

Anything like that I would of thought you would if done before now
generally when you apply they put contact details on so you can ask questions perhaps visit and see what the jobs about

tbh to do it now seems like an afterthought

An informal visit (or at least an informal chat on phone) is totally normal in the NHS, particularly for clinical posts. Many adverts say “for further info contact…….”
Its your chance to find more about the job and you will be at a disadvantage in the interview if you haven’t done this. It will help you prepare better for the interview if you know the expectations, team make up etc

I used to work in the NHS as a b4 admin. I would e-mail the recruiters names with any questions and if I really wanted the job I'd request an informal visit/chat. They can be really helpful in making up your mind as to wether you want to proceed with the application or not. I definitely dodged a couple of bullets that way! Good luck.
