Thinking of starting an ironing business form home just short term to get me through the last year before my little one starts school we desperately need some more income and quite quickly and this popped into my head. Does anyone do this and would you be happy to pass on any tips? I’ve never done it so no idea but I’m guessing get price list fixed per item or weight? Pick and delivery or they drop off and collect? How much do you even charge for ironing for people? Is it something people want? I’ve researched my area and there isn’t a great deal about so hoping it could work. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

I probably would pay for this. I'd definitely want it to be picked up and dropped off.

In my local area it looks like £1.50 per item of adult clothing is average.

I didn't even know this was a thing so I may give it a try now!

People who wear shirts, suits, stuff that needs ironing! I guess observe what your neighbours wear. I guess office workers, corporate types. Also people with physical disabilities that might make ironing harder.

If all your neighbours seem to live in tracksuits or sportswear then you probably won't get many takers!

Definitely people would want it picked up/dropped off. Ideally.

I'd be scared of mixing people's things up! 😆

Just remember you will have to inform your home insurance that you are operating a business from your home and liability insurance for you customers. This is not a legal requirement but it will mean you will have to pay out if your own pocket if anything is damaged.

I have no idea about answering most of your questions, but as someone who cannot master the art of ironing (I have tried, but I didn't get the Ironing Gene), I would LOVE it if someone could make my shirts and skirts look fabulous by ironing them for me!
