Short-term objectives and possibly a PIP - what should/can I do?!

Just that, really. I was told a few months ago by my line manager that I’m not meeting the objectives of my role, that I don’t provide the leadership they are looking for and that apparently the clients don’t trust me.
We’ve been working on focussed objectives since then (all managed by her), but now HR are being formally involved. I will have 4 weeks of objectives, then go on a PIP for another 4 weeks.

What do I need to consider or do now? I am looking for another job (but they don’t know that), as I want out of there, but from the process POv, what’s my best option? Ask for an agreement to terminate my contract, redundancy etc? Ive only been there for a year.
I know that HR are not my friend, but how can I protect myself, what do I need to be aware of?

I will be asking Chatgpt for sure, but would appreciate insights, tips and tricks 🙏🏻

wow… that is serious serious stuff.

TBH I’d be job hunting very very aggressively before I was pushed

Ask for redundancy? No.

Hand in your resignation. How long is your notice?

3 months

Right in that case I’d be saying that it looks like the relationship has broken down and to save everyone time you’ll hand in your notice.

I imagine they’ll put on gardening leave just grateful to be saving all the time and cost it would have otherwise taken to get you out

Call ACAS and ask them (it free).

Have you show any improvement against the objectives they set? Did you agree/challenge the objectives?

To a formal PIP review you are allowed to take an independent person for support. That May also help so if their claims are wild they are heard by more than just you.

ACAS is always suggested on Mumsnet.

Sometimes a job just isn’t right for a person. There’s nothing sinister about it. It just has not worked out

I’d resign before you’re fired. Much better looking for another role without a termination hanging over you.

I recently supported someone through a PIP etc and was just about to fire them when thankfully they resigned.

@cloudjumper the issues raised aren’t poor timekeeping or sloppy reports - it goes to the very very core of the job. Clients don’t trust you. You aren’t leading well.

There is no coming back from this. Hand in resignation. I really do think they’ll be so grateful for all the saves time that they’ll put you on gardening leave which will give you 3 months of pay to find an alternative
