I just need some advice on whether this issue is worth pursuing. Back in 2024 a new manager was put in post. She felt my role had more responsibility than it was banded as and started a job evaluation process. She specifically said, and I have it in two separate emails, that if it was successful that I would be back paid from this day in 2024 and any incremental raises would date from this point too.
It was such a long process and it actually took until December 2025 to get a formal written record of the outcome of my job evaluation. It confirmed I would be upbanded and would be effective from the date in 2024.
For some reason due to financial constraints it had to go through an approval to recruit panel after this as a final check. They agreed the post but said they would only backdate my pay by 6 months not 15 months as this was the date the evaluation was sent to the panel. Basically my manager changed and it took the next person 5 months to submit it which is not really something I feel I should be penalised for.
As far as I am aware, the NHS job evaluation handbook advises that the agreed date in 2024 is the one that should be followed. I therefore on my unions advice submitted a grievance to Human Resources, this was instantly downgraded to a pre formal grievance and then I was told to wait.
I have now been told that I will not be getting bsckpay from 2024, no actual explanation, just an apology that it took so long but it wasn't upheld and that the Trust would not accept me taking it further as a formal grievance
Does anyone know what my rights are? I am genuinely surprised that even though I submitted written evidence that this was rejected out of hand.
There is a lot more I can add if it's relevant so I am really hoping that someone with a bit of knowledge in this area could advise and if more info is needed then let me know.
