Bank holidays when p/t, term time only?

I work term time only, 39 weeks a year, and have recently reduced my days to 3 from 5 (35 hours to 21). What happens with bank holidays, which will almost always fall on one of my non working days please? I’m off anyway but I’m unsure if I get extra time off or not to reflect the BH or not. Someone mentioned last week that I should buy I just don’t know.

It will depend on your contract. When I worked part-time tues-thur my holiday allowance was just pro-rated from whatever the total full time would be so 28 days plus we got, iirc, 5 BH days. So I got 33 days pro-rated.

You should get pro-rata bank holidays included in your entitlement to use when you like

Depends on your contract. You are entitled to pro rata annual leave but your pay could be taking that into account already because your annual leave is set

The only bank holiday which falls within term time (in England) is the first Monday in May. The others are all in school holidays. Bank holidays are counted as part of your “weeks paid” so are included within your holiday pay.

As pp said, there is only 1 bank holiday that falls in term time. In term time only working this should be accounted for in your pay rather than as additional leave, in the same way that any continuous service increases to annual leave entitlement would be an adjustment to your pro rata pay calculation, not given as days to take off in addition to school holidays
