Can I delay returning to work during ongoing immunotherapy treatment?

Hi

I will be finishing my active cancer treatment soon and my manager has asked about return to work plan. If im honest i dont know if im ready to go back, i was working through most of the treatment. I have been advised not to go back until I see how my body deals with the immunotherapy and not to rush back from nurses and oncologist.

Can I say I still need time off? Even a reintegration plan im not sure what I would need as not sure how I will be with continued immunotherapy

Yes you can say you still need time off as your Dr/GP will still provide fit notes.

When you are ready to return to work ask your GP to be very specific on the fit note.

An example would be that you work 2 hours a day for 2 weeks increasing by one hour a day every fortnight back to full time.

If you are able to do your work from home I would ask to WFH at the start and gradually increasing days in the office.

Yes. You need to find out your work sickness policy and if you have occupational health ro contact them for guidance. Only return when you're ready. No one but you can know how you're feeling. All the best.
