New career pathways after redundancy

Morning, hope you’re all ok!

Following on from last post I’ve decided to embrace redundancy life. I’m looking at new pathways but it seems hard starting from scratch. Customer services/information and advice/education have been all I’ve known for the past 14 years.

I’d love to do something completely different. I feel a bit scared to raise those ideas with hubby, but then I feel like the redundancy is maybe like a new chance to re-invent myself? His parents are concerned about the job market and feel I should just stick to what I know.

One of these ideas has been counselling but understand that would be a long route. I’d have to fit that around similar work but also keen to get off the corporate ladder!

I’m looking at charity jobs again. I’ve found a careers coach locally and will explore other options. I was wondering if anyone else has sort of done a u turn on career pathways and how it’s worked out? Thanks x

Hi,
Not been made redundant, however can emphasise about a fresh start. I'm working in the education sector also, but looking to move into a different career. I dropped a day at work, so currently work 4 days. I've just started volunteering for a charity that I love in fundraising, events and social media. I am also about to volunteer for a wellbeing charity as front of house too. Is this something you could maybe do? Keep a day for volunteering in a different sector and look for something part time to bring a bit of money in whilst you learn new skills.
