Ideas for moving into a different career after years in marketing

I've worked in marketing for 20 years and I'm desperate to get out - mostly generalist marketing roles, currently in the education sector. It's just become too stressful. Can anyone inspire me with jobs they've moved into from marketing? I really want to do something completely different - happy to take a bit of a pay cut but I do have a lot of transferable skills to offer.

What sort of transferable skills are we talking?

Aside from the marketing specific skills, things like project management, stakeholder management, data analysis, communication, planning, budgeting management etc

My dc1 had a lovely Reception teacher who had had a 15 year career in marketing first and then moved to teaching age 35 to avoid the late night working and to get the kids holidays off . She LOVED her job and said the workload and stress and hours didn’t even come close to her previous career and the pay drop whilst significant felt worth it because she enjoyed teaching and it felt so worthwhile. She was an utterly brilliant teacher too!

Unfortunately I wouldn't make a good teacher 😅

Costing, maybe? In a manufacturing or construction environment possibly, for big projects. Might be staggeringly dull though.😂

Internal Comms or Business Change

I was looking at internal comma jobs yesterday actually- definitely something to consider

Are you me op? I've been trying to leave my marketing job for years now. I've been doing lots of short courses to help me decide what I do and do not enjoy. Maybe start there. There are lots of short online courses available via Coursera etc. it's not easy trying to juggle FTW and a course but its a less risky option whilst you figure it out. Good luck. X

Yes comms or fundraising (various type tho trust fundraising might suit your skillset).

Procurement could be an option as you are used to budget management.

If you wanted something completely different I would look into a course for book keeping as well. But are you good with figures? You don't have to completely retrain as an accountant but it offers up other possibilities.

FYI I'm in marketing and have been all my life. Now nearly 63 but run my own business.
