Bitterness about redundancy

Do any of you “blacklist” an organisation after they make you redundant? I used to work for a large Corporate telecoms organisation, and as soon as they made me redundant, I cancelled my TV, Mobile & broadband subscriptions with them. I used to get TV for free and heavily subsidised Mobile and broadband subscriptions. My subs went to full price. There was no way I was going to give them my money after they made me redundant.
Does anyone else do this with their workplace or am I just really bitter?

My BF was made redundant from a corporate shit show. I sent her a video of me unsubscribing from their mailing list. We always shopped with them and I have never crossed the door of any of their stores since and I never will.

my friend worked for sky with the introduction of sky glass and there services are streamed now instead of dish they were all binned off
I think it’s standard in telecoms the bubble has burst
Not heard anything about virgin media they were actually recruiting near us

It's not bitter at all!!! It's common sense and socially useful.

In my previous job I got to find out a lot of awful things about large companies and their unfair practices, redundancy related or otherwise. Ethical small businesses have benefited as a result.

I have a long list of companies I won't give my business to. I use Trustpilot to post factual one-star reviews and often get my money back or the problem solved.

Hope your next employer is better.

I did, worked 14 years for a company then was made redundant so took them to a tribunal and they settled before. I refused all sorts of opportunities which brought me into their sphere for years. I have got over it now, 21 years later and happier.

It is pretty soul destroying when you are getting great feedback from team and colleagues and a manager saying it doesn’t count. My manager didn’t do the PIP v well and I complained about some dodgy emails I was subject to from HR (I wasn’t supposed to be copied but they disclosed to people they shouldn’t that I was on a PIP so I also said it affected my GDPR rights and against HR policy). In my first capability meeting it lasted 2 minutes to say the next PIP would have my buy in and would be measurable but our relationship had gone beyond fixing so surprise I was in the next batch of redundancies! And not due to performance of course (!). Still best possible outcome with reference intact. My colleague she put on a PIP at the same time put a grievance in as she had not had issues before this new manager came in either. She prolly got a better payout due to a without prejudice conversation. If you have any proof the employer is on a sticky wicket just call them out on it. I should have submitted the grievance earlier as to put two leaders at same level on a PIP in the same country is truly suss. It took me a lot to come down from that but I got another job quickly and been there 18 months with no issues and an exceeds expectations! I also spoke to HR who said maybe I was now a square peg in a round hole now and that it wasn’t the right organisation for me. It was but the new manager had less experience than me and a colleague and I think she felt threatened. Anyway good luck but don’t take any nonsense

Been made redundant twice. One was the kick up the bum I needed to leave, got a lovely generous payout and walked into another job the monday after my official finish date. It's an industry i don't use at all in my day to day life and my partner works for a competitor anyway.

The other time I dropped the ball. My area manager came in and made me redundant on the spot with no notice (he was an incompetent fool) but I'd been there less than a year and again, walked straight into another job so didn't pursue it. I watched with absolute glee as branch by branch that business disappeared though. I think there's just one left. I wonder if the MD had to sell the sparkly new audi he was gloating about the week I was laid off?
Anyway, I steer people away from them and share some of their more dubious practices where possible.

I’m a great believer in petty revenges if they make you feel better. One of the small redeeming qualities of Facebook is how good it can feel to unfriend somebody.
