Are digital notepads worth it?

I make lots of notes in my job, normally just to jot things down but then I end up losing them, or I turn the page and forget about it etc. Are digital notepads worth it? Was thinking it might get me more organised with not losing things I’ve written down 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes! I love mine.

Misslizzie96 · 20/09/2026 23:40

Following - I’ve been thinking about getting one as I hate the reminders to-do sends and like to scribble notes etc so went back to pen and paper but an electronic one would be handier.

Anarchy99 · 21/09/2026 01:59

Following too - I work closely with someone in another office and we have been discussing getting one each to be able to share notes etc.

What one would people recommend?

mellongoose · 21/09/2026 06:22

Following as trying to get my work to get one atm. I’ve seen others using Remarkable and they all seem to like them. Not sure about the others.

thestraycathouse · 21/09/2026 06:29

I have a remarkable. I will say I don’t yet use it to its full capacity - I’ve not synched it etc.

i thought about one for a while and saw someone using one and took the plunge - I bought a second hand bundle on eBay.

i love it beyond words, I suspect I have adhd and it seems to be the only thing that has stuck in terms of making notes / to do lists. I think it’s the combo of actually writing but just being able to ‘rub out’ the done things.

it has been worth every penny for me.

Megamegablahblah · 21/09/2026 17:56

I use Microsoft Office's One Note. It just is a bit better for me as it is already on the laptop. Has organised tabs etc.

Changingforthisone25 · 21/09/2026 18:36

Also love onenote for the note search function but seriously considering a remarkable tablet too . I feel like there's something about writing which consolidates things into writing

prejudiceandpride · 21/09/2026 19:05

I'm thinking of an Ipad Air with the goodnotes app which my daughter uses for uni and loves.

HermioneWeasley · 21/09/2026 19:15

I considered the remarkable but didn’t want an additional device

I use the goodnotes app on my iPad (costs about £11 a year) and an iPad pen which cost £5 off Amazon. I really like it.

BirdIsBoredOfFlying · 21/09/2026 19:18

Following as I’ve also been considering remarkable. For those who use iPads, does the iPad not get hot under your hand? Mine does and I find it unusable because of it

parietal · 21/09/2026 19:20

My iPad & GoodNotes app & Apple Pencil come to all meetings. Much easier than a laptop

I’m waiting for the latest Kindle Scribe to be in a sale. It’s got OneDrive integration which is what would make it much more useful. I can also trade in old Kindle for it.

JustKeepSw1mming · 21/09/2026 19:24

Do these change hand writing into text? Or do you just leave them as handwritten?
And so, if you are taking notes at a lecture, can you incorporate a photo in?

Mumteedum · 21/09/2026 19:24

Mine is kindle scribe. I love it..I read, make loads of notes, draw, read PDFs....

Yeah I reckon the Scribe might be the GOAT. I read on a Kindle anyway so am familiar with the ecosystem

HavingABlether · 21/09/2026 20:21

Used my remarkable for a couple of years and I'd be lost without it.

AdidasBadidas · 21/09/2026 20:25

I’ve explored Remarkable but wasn’t sure if it worth the price. Didn’t think of second hand thought.

hardcore paper/pen person here. Never good at digital notes.

RatsCatsandPuppies · 21/09/2026 20:26

Following this as also considering either a Scribe or a Remarkable - hoping it could be a possible Christmas gift (or a contribution towards one) from DH. Both look great, not sure which way to go.

ProfessorofDarkArts · 21/09/2026 20:26

Watching with interest as my DP is considering a Remarkable, he’s dyslexic and I think it could be really helpful but sometimes I find technology seems to cause as many issues as it solves.

Mumteedum · 21/09/2026 20:35

For the remarkable users, is it still a subscription?

TofuTuesday · 21/09/2026 20:57

I love my scribe but I only use it for book group

Mt563 · 21/09/2026 21:04

I have a supernote nomad and I adore it. Roughly A5 size which I prefer to the remarkable, not as slim which is a shame. No subscription which I love.

I've now been using it for 18 months and can now easily find my meeting notes from months ago. It's made a huge difference to my organization at work.

It can theoretically do handwriting to text recognition (doesn't store as text but can search handwriting). But honestly it doesn't work well. I use the headings and other functions to make sure I can find things. (You can preview how it's stored your handwriting though if you do want to check).

I also love not having drifts of paper everywhere and never throwing anything away for fear of it being important/ needed one day.

I think I read that the kindle one doesn’t change your notes into text, only when you put it in a format to email it?

I think that used to be so...not sure if there was an update. I don't use that feature. I'll have to check for you...but I'm off to bed right now. 😉

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 21/09/2026 21:36

I got a remarkable before the subscription model was introduced and I have a free lifetime subscription. I do love it but I would not buy it nowadays if it meant committing to the subscription
