Follow up on Job application

Hi. I’ve applied for a job via LinkedIn. The application went directly to the employer ( not a recruiter) it’s for a professional job (finance director) but one that I really want and do have the right skill set for.
Is it worth emailing the MD directly (can find her email on the website) to express how much I want it? I did have to answer why I want this role / what I know about the company when applying initially so don’t want them to think I’m being pushy. At the same time, the ad has just been removed so think they are currently reviewing applications!

There will be employers who will be impressed and others who will be annoyed.

I'm in a similar quandary atm. Have a job interview tomorrow for a position I'll take if offered, but applied for another better paid that closed on 10/09 with no acknowledgement and no follow up...

The advert has only just been removed. You have no idea of their timescale. Assuming you were 100% happy with your application then no further action is required. If you are unsuccessful at interview then by all means ask for feedback.
