jobs in publishing

[Bugsy73]

Hi, am hoping for some advice regarding jobs in publishing or editing...my daughter is hoping to go into this line of work. She's currently doing her a levels, but isn't sure of a pathway into this kind of industry. I work in health care so also don't have a clue! Could anyone advise about what degree may be helpful, or is that even necessary? Thank you 😊

I work in publishing. It’s low-paid and very London/Surrey based. Editing roles will probably be replaced by AI in the not too distant future. However, if she still wants to pursue a career in publishing, I suggest an English degree or a joint honours with publishing/information studies. She will probably have to work as an unpaid intern at first to get experience.
